RE: [RC] Range Rider helmets - Mike Sofen

I use the Range Rider, haven't fallen on it, so can't speak to that.

The helmet has two flaws, one of which is what you discovered - the visor
has a nearly non-existent means of attachment - I lost my visor within a
month. The other flaw is that they don't have a useful sweatband or lining,
so sweat drips down right into my ears (major yuck).

However, there's a silver lining here. Because the helmet is so completely
adjustable, I now wear a thin ball cap made from a moisture-wicking material
(from REI) under the helmet. It gives me both a visor and a sweatband, the
helmet still fits perfectly, and I have a hat to wear at vet checks if I
take my helmet off. This is an incredibly light and comfortable helmet.

This is still my favorite helmet of all time...it just took a little
tweaking to make it work for me.

    Subject: [RC] Range Rider helmets

This past weekend, I borrowed an almost new range rider helmet, and was very
impressed. Here in Central Florida, it was over 90 degrees with high
humidity, but the Range Rider was way cooler than my Troxel helmet, and very
comfortable. Can anyone tell me who has used one before and fallen how good
the protection is? It's definitely different looking, and I wonder how it
(and I) would fare in a fall. I also question the set up of the sun visor,
it looks kind of flimsy. Do they stay on well over time? Any other helpful
experience? I'd like more info before I buy one.
