[RC] What was The Day of Knights? Epilog - goearth

This 'Ride' had No Sanctioning from either AERC or FEI tho we followed  All AERC Rules of Gates into Holds and Vetting and most of FEI's.  Neither one had any involvement or Knowledge.  We Raised 5K$ for a worthwhile cause.  It was a spectator sport as people could view the Vetting which was done in the ring and each loop included a ride arround the ring easily viewed from the grandstands.  The Public was allowed to visit the barns and see the horses as they were  Crewed.  From this riders perspective...it was not boring to ride the course.  My Crew Chief was Dr. Susan Beal who did a miraculous job of keeping me informed of all the things going on.  Ballistic went 65 miles,  BayMar went 50 couple and came up lame.  Zacharia went the rest and was injured in a freak accident in the stall when he was blanketed.  CARda was a 5yo mare who dumped me when she said she wanted nothing to do with this and i rode 100 miles w/ a dislocated shoulder.  Eating arnica every 30 minutes i survived. We the Riders came up short.   Garnet had severe intestinal problems and so did Chryssie but she kicked us fellows butts.  Garnets Crew Chief was Danny and he had g.m. Chagall a horse i raised and trained and the rest of that story is out there but it was kept fair so i "rode" CARda who was sold to Naomi Preston when i disipated my brood mare band. Chryssies Crew Chief was Bryan Wates.  Garnet comes from Nova Scotia and Chryssie is now in Ca.  Between us we have at least 10 FEI Teams in various Nations.   John Crandall III was the farrier.  JP Whiteside did the video.  Jim and Gwen from ABC came and gave us support and incentive.  Dr. Eve Bargmann was the resident dr.  Dr. Matthew Mackay-Smith and Winky graced us with their presence at the event and awards where all those involved received Golden Horseshoes as the Event was sponsored by....The Immortal Order of the Knights of the Golden Horseshoe,  Americas Oldest Equestrian Order.  So,  you see Campers since the last Century there has been an alternative to all this quest for Adventure... at least by me and a few others and those who think they can ride further   GO FER IT do as Bob Dylan says..."don't follow leaders     follow parking meters...."  tom sites
