[RC] What Was The Day of Knights - goearth

The Day of Knights was held in Luray Va. Fairgrounds (Page County) on the Fall Equinox as a FundRaiser that raised 5K$ for St. Judes Childrens Hospital in 1994.  The Endurance aspect was a stunt by Will Tevis did of how far 1 person could ride 4 horses and we added AERC/Fei Vet and Grounds Control.  The Head Vet was Dr. Jeannie Waldron,  The FEI Steward was Lee Wittle and our Statiscian was Lorey Bargmann PhD.  3 Riders Started on 4 horses each on a 1.52 mile oval course. The ride covered 24 hrs and started at 5am. The Course Marshall was Jim Hodson.  It was R.I.D.E's (Riders International Distance & Endurance) first Event.  Chryssie Unser went 165 Miles.  Tom Sites went 144 miles and Garnett Gallant went 120 miles.  The  Vet Gates were Gates into holds.  If a horse did not pass Vet criteria those miles traveled were not counted.  It was filmed and documented and covered by numerous newspapers.  What is V2B?  thats the rest of the story.  tom sites
