[RC] Horse for Bekki Crippen - Rides 2 Far

Alright guys. I need some help. Those of you in the SE I'm probably just
talking to you, but others are welcome to read on. I have got to find a
horse for Bekki Crippen. For anyone who doesn't know who she is her
    story is at:
    http://www.endurance.net/Stories/ShowStory.asp?Counter=126

Short version is that she's about 35 (I forget exactly) and mildly
mentally handicapped. If you don't know her please read the story to
know more. Anyway, Buddy has been far enough. He's over 20 and really
doesn't need to be going to endurance rides...even though he finished
middle of the pack *again* at Million Pines this year and once more
should have won the award for inhaling more food than any 2 animals in
    camp. >g<

Bekki has been very patient with me all tied up in school and all, but
enough is enough. She wants a horse. She wants to compete again. She has
completed quite a few LD's...maybe 10? with Buddy taking up to 8 hours so
she's willing to stay out there, wants to try 50.

What it comes down to is she is driving her mother and me crazy. I made
the mistake of teaching her how to find the internet horse ads. Now she
calls me to read me ads on horses that sound interesting. I say, "Where
is it?" She always sounds surprised I asked and says, umm, Oregon,
Ocalla, wherever. Makes no difference to Bekki. (She's in North Georgia
    just outside Chattanooga).

What I'd love to get my hands on is a horse someone may have competed on
but it just wasn't *that* talented...or maybe one with a little age that
needed to slow down. Bekki is a very good rider for an honest horse.
She is balanced, posts well, very empathetic towards the horse...and is
obsessed with details. She would never forget anything you tell her. For
instance, if I say, "Remind me to check my girth" about every 20 minutes
she'll just say, "check your girth". It's as if she's had it on her mind
    the whole time. >g<

She's stubborn and will stand up to a beligerant horse. I haven't seen
her on a hot horse and would rather avoid that. She is not physically
impaired, but she's about 4'11" tall, short legged. She weighs about 135
to 140. She rides a Bighorn saddle, and with Buddy uses an eggbutt
snaffle. She has a great place to keep it. They rent a house that is
situated in the middle of an old Hannover Shoe Trotting Horse farm.
There are board fences, and gorgeous fields. The horse would be stabled
with Buddy Bullseye (20 year old gelding) and Blue (another old gelding)
with a run in shed and stalls available. She has to have a gelding since
    Blue is studdish with mares.

We went to see a 15 year old gelding this morning and she really had her
hopes up. It turned out to be very thin ( I told them to try Panacure
purge) and in pretty rough shape. Didn't want us to touch it's mouth and
I could just see Bekki trying to give it electrolytes. Trouble was, she
takes one look and she's in love. Makes it very hard for us to go check
    them out.

I would be interested in any sort of medium build small gelding that
Bekki could simply complete with and have a good time. If you know of
one, or know someone who might, please pass this info on to them. We
would consider a loaner if they don't want to part with the horse. I
live 2 miles away and can be available to make sure everything goes
    smoothly.

Thanks for any help you can send my way. Otherwise, it's going to be a
long summer with her reading me the want ads every morning...."Hey Angie,
did you see this one? It says 2001 Arabian Stallion, black, $5,000"
    >sigh<

    Angie
