    [RC] Ulcer Research/USA Druggies? - rides2far

    >>>Remember, most of us are theoretically already riding horses
    with ulcers.

Wait a minute. Are they saying, "90% of all performance horses have ulcers" or is it, "90% of all horses tested" have them? I would imagine that most people who are willing to pay for a test have reason to think their horses have an ulcer, or they wouldn't bother to test. If my horse has never had an extended treatment of bute, never coliced, is not confined, always has free choice hay, and doesn't seem to mind trailering or camping at all...is he still 90% likely to have an ulcer?

Back on the subject of drugs though... Remember in the article Bob had us read where they claimed that one of the winners admitted that to maintain the level of fitness his horse had, he had to ride it 3 times a day? I had a flashback to that when reading the article on blood doping. They said it was not practical, the people who did it in the Tour De France (I think that was what it was) had to exercise every few hours to keep their blood from coagulating or something gross like that. I do remember that the person riding 3 times a day was NOT from the U.S.A.
