    I'd say the death rate is much higher simply among 2 year old horses
    racing on the flat if that's how you want to keep score. I saw 3 horses
    break legs in one evening at a track.  
    
    Personally, I think the toughest sport is the one the horse is trying to
    compete in, but isn't physically or mentally suited for.  A heavy muscled
    horse being made to do endurance...a lanky horse trying to do
    reining...me trying to run a marathon...  Dressage would be very hard for
    Kaboot mentally, 100 miles in the heat might be much harder for a big
    warmblood though.
