Re: [RC] Money fer Nothing - SandyDSA

Judging by a few emails I receievd privately, it appears that while HAVING integrity is a free choice, KEEPING it can be costly when attacked by someone without the same. So goes the money, so goes the character. I just had to explain to my 16 year old daughter that pointing at her schoolmates and saying "well, I am not as bad as THOSE people" probably would not wash well as an excuse for bad behavior.  It doesn't change the intrinsic need for SOMEONE, ANYONE to stand up for character.

We don't show our horses anymore because of the abuse, we chose NOT to put a very nice filly on the track for the same reasons. So why is endurance any different in terms o fits vulnerability to greed and abuse? It isn't any different - right now itis the very last strong hold for people who want to ride their good horses without abuse or compromise, and while there are without doubt people of low character within any group, clearly throwing purses into the mix can and too often DOES bring out not only the worst in people, but also the worst people.

My husband is a college coach. How often I have heard him tell his players to "keep it clean". He isn't talking about their language - he is talking about their game character, and their character in general. Good idea.
