a user friendly forum?

I'm having a hard time navigating this forum. I'm new here so maybe I
don't know all the shortcuts, but I just tried searching on a topic and
came up with plenty of results but they are out of sequence. Then I tried
following the discussion but the next threads are off topic. I've been to
forums where the thread topics are displayed from top to bottom. The first
thread contained the most recent post, and each new post puts the thread
that it's in on top. This makes it easy to follow discussions on the
active threads. You just click on a thread and scroll down to veiw several
posts in the order they are posted. Anyways, thats the style I know how to
use. Is anyone else having problems following discussions?
