Re: P&R vet check treatment



UMECRA still does.  The continuation criteria is usually set at 68 pulse, 68
respiration without worrying about "inversion".  The respiration is used as
part of the scoring.  The idea being that if you condition and ride your
horse right you will get it cool and the respiration will go down.

Note that in addition to the measured and recorded parameters each horse is
seen by the vet at the vet check.  Vets can and do pull horses that are in
trouble even if the P/R is within "parameters".

As a practical matter, except for some very humid days, the CTR pace is slow
enough that few horses have trouble meeting the criteria.  Almost all horses
pulse to between 40 and 48 with respirations between 4 and 20.
