Re: Survey:Horse Habits/Idiosyncrasies

Our son-in-law's horse, who boards with us, picks up the hanging metal hay
manger with his teeth and lets it go, creating a very satisfying "bang" on
the pipe fencing. He does this 5-6 times, to let me know that "it is time
for my hay, and hurry up about it." My gelding, runs his teeth back and
forth across the metal stripping I nailed on a wooden feed bunk. The
stripping is there to prevent him from chewing the bunk to bits, so he
presses the biting surface of his upper incisors onto the stripping and rubs
his teeth back and forth. It, too, is a "hurry up and feed me" message.
