It seems only logical that a 'National Championship" ride would be supported
by the organization for which it is held.  This is *not* like any other
ride, and it should be handled differently.

Support in this case could consist of publicity.  But for the organization
to use its own 'National Championship' as a mandated fundraiser, with all
risk accruing to the local group that's doing the work, seems topsy-turvy at
best and parasitic at worst.

If the BOD supports this proposal, it will then be clear that they consider
the name of this ride as some kind of joke.
