I'm not sure that being honest about consequences of past actions can be
construed as giving anyone an excuse for terrorism.  It is not.  It takes an
honest evaluation of who and why people might want to do this in order to
deal with it, and to find and go after those who did it.  If one tries to
rewrite history to make it appear rosier, one learns no lessons from it.
