LD vs comp

Bethany, Alum Creek can be  very slippery if it has rained.  You are dealing
with Ohio mud and the trail is mostly single track with typical Ohio rolling
gullies.  You won't trot slowly either,  there will be places where you will
canter too so you can walk where you need to walk.   It all depends on the
shape of the trail.  If this is your first ride and you want to do LD, do it
at a slower pace than the front runners so you can learn without hurting
your horse.  Jeanie
