oh boy - just like people, if one does not take in enough fluid (water is
best) to process the e'lytes, the body then is forced to pull fluids from the
extremities and even other organs in order to digest/process the salts in the
e'lytes, thereby dehydrating the horse. It is easy to digress form the idea
that re-hydration is not the same as electrolyte replacement, and that
hydration SHOULD take place first> In other words, don't e'lyte a horse
unless and until the horse has had PLENTY to drink - more than a usual sip!
