Re: RC: re: athletic horses

My vet - whom I have used for years and knew of my intent for the horse - warned me of this when we did a vet check prior to purchase. I guess I should have stated this was my personal experience and left it at that. The Arabian I currently have has a "dishy" face - not considered to be the "extreme" type - with ample air passage. I believe San summed it up very nicely. Thanks San.

Extreme dished Arabians are beautiful to behold but the air passage will
likewise be "extremely" restricted. I had a wonderful gelding - Bask &
Fadjur lineage - that I did some LD with. He had a lot of heart but
struggled mightily with this problem.

I'm going to have to disagree on this one...Just because one horse, or a
few horses, might have a problem with breathing due to a super dished face.
(??) This doesn't mean all dished faced horses are going to have this problem.
I would be interested in knowing how this conclusion came about.  Were
these horses put on a tread mill of sorts and tested for this specific
restricted air flow problem?
