Re: Saddle Stabalizer

Hi Patty & List -
I have hotstuff's "Bareback Buddy", which I use quite a bit. Wraps around the leg, and you mount your baraback horse just like a saddled horse. I love it, and carry it with me in my pad's "saddle" bags. "BB" can also be used over a saddle.
When we were kids, we took a rope and made a crude kid's version of it. Never once all these years thought of it again, till I came across their site.

Subject: RC: Saddle Stabalizer

Hey there! Ya'll have been such a fountain of information for me in the past months, I thought I'd pass on a good word about a product. (in case anyone's been thinking about getting it)

Just recently purchased the 'Saddle Stabalizer' from  hotstuff4horses.com. It's the same people who are selling the..ahem... device that allows ladies to relieve themselves standing up. I believe it was talked about a few months back on ridecamp.

Anyhoo, LOVE the gadget. It's really simple. One end attaches to your offside d-ring, you buckle the strap snugly around the horses' off front leg. Mount up, unsnap the buckle and away you go. After I mount I do re-attach it to the nearside d-ring so it doesn't hang off of my horse too far. I have been having such a time with my saddle slipping as I mount up and there's usually not very many accesible objects to use as mounting blocks nearby. The 'Saddle Stabalizer'  really solved the problem. I was concerned about my mare (who is vewy, vewy sensitive) being upset about the pressure on her leg/armpit/whatever as I mounted up, but she has no problem with it whatsoever. With shipping and all I think it cost about $25 tops.

While I'm here...... I can't seem to find a calendar for any CTRs in Florida for fall and the coming year. Can anyone help me out with that? I'm itching to try a CTR and or a LD ride this fall, but trying to find something as close to me as possible. (Indian River County, Florida) BTW, kinda figure the 'Stabalizer' will be a no-no on the CTR, huh? haha

Thanks,

Patti (wondering why I can't ever invent anything cool like that)Mercedes (you know mom, ya might not need the 'Stabalizer' if ya lost a couple pounds)
