I was riding there today, it was beautiful and cool! 
Parked next to Hwy. 80, rode through the tunnel, up to the Pacific Crest 
Trail, and then on the new "Donner Lake Rim Trail."  We went over a mountain, 
and down into the Euer Valley.  Did the length of it, and climbed out the 
West end, then back to the PCT.  Took 6 1/2 hours at the walk, trotting where 
a bare foot horse could.
Wish I could go back tomorrow.
