Well Pamela, look at it this way. If you start a horse at 5 (required age to do more than LD's) and put in 3 seasons of LD's and then 2 or 3 seasons of mixed LD's and 50's the horse is 11 years old. Now the horse has a strong solid base and by the time they are 13, are in their prime and ready to rock and roll. So, first of all, 13 is not old. You may not have to put in that much time, depending on the fitness level of this horse now, and then you could be ready to go. You will have a better time on a more relaxed horse with a few years on him. Don't fret it. Lisa Salas, The Odd FArm
