Thanks for the great info!
My older gelding has occasionally thumped on "hot" weather rides in the
past. I realize it is probably because I am not elyting him frequently
enough (every hour). Some of the endurance vets like Barney Fleming and Mike
Tomilson suggested that I add calcium gluconate to his elytes. It has worked
like a charm for the past couple of years, but it is so darned expensive to
buy. The only place I coan find it is at the human health store. They make a
human powdered drink called "Be Calm". Is there a whole lot of difference
between me adding calcium gluconate/magnesium to my elytes or adding calcium
carbonate instead?
