Re: Choking Horse



Laura< I had to respond to this note, because my 26 year old, retired
endurance horse, had the same thing happen a month ago. I stayed calm and
did the hose thing myself, without calling the vet, just for a minute or
less. This was after 1/2 hour of all the mucus, saliva, noises, and
posturing.  I was embarrased to announce this on ridecamp after I'd read
somewhere, later of course, not to force water. Glad your vet confirmed it's
okay. I just know my horse has never choked, but the beet pulp hadn't been
soaking for more than a minute when my piggy guy slopped some down before I
could stop him. There go all the theories that it can't happen. Glad we both
had a good outcome. I'm more careful now about letting it soak longer for
that particular horse. Glad Tez is fine. Randi in Brooksville, Florida
