An elimination diet is VERY hard and takes FOREVER - you can't eliminate
one item at a time because the allergens stay in the system for a long
time.  The best way to do it is to reduce the diet to a single item, the
least likely one, for 48h at least.  If the problem clears up in that
time, you can add items back at one per 4-6 days or more to see if the
problem reappears.  This is much easier to do with a baby (person) who
is eating only 4 or 5 items than it is with an adult horse on pasture,
and even then it's very tough.  I spent almost 7 years doing this with
my kids, between the 2 of them.  

Can you be absolutely certain it's a food allergy?  It might be easier
to do RAST testing of the blood to find the allergen than to do an
elimination diet.  I don't even think I'd want to try it!
