Buckeye Nutrition kschexnayder@buckeyenutrition.com
Dear Biltmore Rider,

For over 90 years, our legacy has been rooted in the tradition of providing quality Equine products and services to our customers. Continuing with this tradition, Buckeye Nutrition is pleased to be offering Performance Profiling at the upcoming Biltmore Endurance Ride. The Performance Profiling will be part of the research currently being conducted by the internationally acclaimed research team of Dr. Mike Lindinger and Gayle Ecker.

How the testing is it done …………
· Blood samples and body weights are obtained and analyzed (on-site, barring complications) the day(s) before the ride, the morning of the ride, during the ride and during the recovery period following the ride (finish, 2 hours, and next a.m.). You will get more accurate results if the horse is weighed without saddle and blankets, but tack weight can be subtracted if tack weight is recorded prior to the ride.
· The total amount of blood is minimal and does not affect performance (volume during the ride is less than 0.01% of blood volume).
· You must complete a questionnaire regarding electrolyte supplementation and feeding and provide us with a one-ounce sample of your electrolyte mix (and the product label) to help in the analysis.

You will receive ……..
· Objective information on the hydration and electrolyte status, the energy level, fitness relative to the conditions/speed and other management information.
· Information comparing your horse to the population. More importantly, you will receive an individualized assessment that describes what is happening with your horse during the ride.
· Information determining the effectiveness of your management program.
· The results of the blood samples and body weight changes before you go home on Sunday (barring any technical difficulties). You will also receive an in-depth analysis by mail with suggestions that may improve the health and performance of your horse.

What does it cost?
For only $140.00 (US) you can receive a personalized, objective assessment of your horse. Availability is limited to the first 40 riders who call in, so sign-up now! Payment must be received before April 30th, 2001. Payment may be made via MasterCard, Visa or personal check. Sign up for this important event, by calling Buckeye Nutrition at 1-800-898-9467 ext. 156 and ask for Karen.
