Question on "dogbone" bit

Hi,

I just bought a bit off ebay, its a French 3pc dogbone loose snaffle bit. When I bid on it, I thought it was a French-link loose ring snaffle, which is what I wanted. They look similiar but are they? Has anyone used the dogbone bit and does it apply too much pressure on the tongue, like the Dr. Bristol?

Thanks,
Kerry
