Organizing Rides

Stacey Johnson superfoofer@yahoo.com
Hello. I have competed in CTRs and Endurance rides in Indiana, but I've never volunteered or managed one. I would like to help organize a benefit ride for a very sick little boy. My boss's son has Batten Disease. The disease is fatal, and there's no cure. I'd like to raise money to help him through a CTR or endurance ride.
Can someone tell me what all is involved in organizing, or at least helping orgazine, a benefit ride? Are they very successful? I've heard that it's hard to even break even when managing a ride. I know I'll need lots of help. Also, if anyone else would like to organize his/her own ride for the cause, that would be wonderful. We need 2 million dollars to fund a clinical trial for a cure, and right now my boss has raised about $450,000. For more info, see www.nathansbattle.com
I'm very lucky to be able to enjoy distance rides. I just want to help my boss and his family, and what better way than by doing what I love? I just want to save what he loves.
Thanks!
