Party in the Desert

Hi Judy,

Actually, you wear fairly dressy and modest clothes as the Middle
Eastern culture is conservative with respect to women's dress. The
Sheik's Party at the WEC two years ago was incredible. Imagine a resort
and pool as nice as the finest resort in Palm Springs, add table after
table of exotic foods being cooked before your eyes, entertainers who
display the music and dance of the local culture and beautifully dressed
people from all over the world sharing their love of horses and this
sport! Now wrap all of that up in a December climate on the Persian
Gulf that was as warm and balmy as those described in the Arabian
Nights.

Alcohol is not a part of their culture and while a small glass of wine
or beer might be offered discreetly at a table provided by one of the
visiting teams, you simple do not see drunk people or obnoxious party
behavior.

Perfect Hospitality sums up a visit to Dubai when you are there to
participate in an Endurance Championship. You can earn your position as
a rider like Steph did or you can volunteer to crew for the US or many
other riders you will get to know if you continue to participate in this
sport. In 1998, Steph crewed for our old Ridecamp friend Leonard.

If you really want to go, start crewing and start saving your money!
