Before jumping into new shoes that might cause you other problems, why is your horse's frog sore to begin with?  Are you riding in a rocky area?  How do you currently shoe your horse?  What does your FARRIER say?  Unless your vet specializes in nothing but horses, your farrier will have seen many more horses than your vet and his/her speciality is horses' feet.  S/He may be able to notice something your vet didn't.  Just some things to think about.  Oh, and FYI, we do have some clients who use eggbars and very successfully but they are NOT for EVERY horse.
