Hello again

Hi there
I took a leave from ridecamp for the winter months as I have been
immersed in web design and trying to "crack the code" of how to get up
in the search engines--- well I did it and was going to rejoin my
friends here; however, I never imagined that my first post would be to
announce a terrible tragedy. I decided to tell people on-line as I feel
I have been part of a family here and that most of you have heard my
Halynov anecdotes and feel you know him. It is still hard for me to
write about this as it is still fresh and we have been devastated.
Hal had a freak accident--- tripped in pasture, fell wrong and broke his
radius. We cast it and took him down to Alamo Pintado, but there was
nothing to be done--- broken in four places and too close to the joint.
We had to put our good friend of the last 12 years down. I have already
reached most of you personally who have bred or booked to him, and I am
now getting many inquiries this year so I cannot put off this sad news
any longer.
Yes, I still have some frozen semen and Frank Rothschild wants me to
partner with him and promote one of Hal's best sons, Halyva Guy plus I
have a 16hh stallion at my ranch who has similar action and bloodlines
to Hal, BUT I have to tell you I am not actively doing anything yet---
still in shock. We thought Hal was invincible--- he was one of our
family. He showed so much courage during the casting and transport down
to Alamo--- like "Mom, fix it" and this was one time we couldn't.
Stallions seem to always be getting themselves in predicaments, at least
the ones we've known. So full of life, vigor, and the attitude that they
really can fly like the wind. Perhaps that is why I have always been
partial to them. I have always enjoyed and admired their energy and
pride. That is probably what makes them believe they are invincible as
well--- at least Hal did. He would attempt any jump and never balked at
a challenge. Strange he would fall to such a trivial accident at home in
his pasture with his current amore. Makes me realize again how life hags
by such a delicate thread and how we must appreciate every moment. I am
sooo happy his last months were horsey heaven--- got to pasture breed
four aged mares who had been barren to AI--- hadn't bred for awhile and
two were almost 20--- it was their last hope and Hal had 3 of them in
there at the same time at one point--- poor boy was exhausted but his
legacy is that ALL 4 are IN FOAL---- What a guy!!!
Another great stallion was lost to all of us. Khemosabi had to be put
down last Wed due to a blockage in the intestine. My heart goes out the
the Husbands as well.
I hope those of you who have Halynov offspring will keep in touch with
me as to their achievements. I plan to keep his web site going as a
tribute to my dear friend.
Sincerely,
Bette
