Re: Slide-in campers

Hi Kelli!

I pull a two-horse Bison TB sized trailer with my '96
Dodge Diesel and use a 1980 Sunlite 8' slide in.

You will need an extended hitch on your truck to
give you enough clearance between truck and trailer.
I "dinged" my new trailer with the camper extending
less than a foot. I've since removed the canister for
the roll-up bed cover and it fits flush. I haven't had
problems with the weight, but did go to tires heavier
than the original issue.

I got a two wire plug from Radio Shack and wired
into the wires at the plug for the trailer for camper
clearance lights. I ran another wire direct from the
battery (with inline circuit breaker at the battery)
with another two wire plug from Radio Shack for
the camper inside lights. The circuit breaker is
available from auto parts stores like NAPA. The
plug from Radio Shack is black with red and black
wires that you splice on to other wire of the required
length.

Let me know if you need more details.
