Messages from the AERC Office - with a virus



If you get an unusual message from the AERC office with WIN_$100_NOW.DOC.pif
attached, don't open it.

The office computer system caught the WIN95/MTX virus Friday AM and was mailing 
infected messages to addresses in their MS Outlook address books.

This one requires you download repair programs and the virus blocks your
ability to go to the antivirus sites.  It also corrupts system files -
some of which can be repaired and others - you have to reload the files
from your system disk.

This virus came out in late August 2000 and detection files were available
in Sept.  You should consider downloading the virus updates very 1-2 weeks.
