RE: RE: Junior Rider Age

DB-D:

Please read AERC Rule 10 about Junior Riders. Specifically 10.1. I also
refer the original poster to the fact that the AERC Ride Year begins on
December first and ends on November thirtieth. If the riders 16th birthday
is not until March 19th 2001 then the entire year will be a junior year of
competition. The exception to this case would be covered by AERC Rule 10.3
where in an allowance can be made for a Jr rider who has completed 500 miles
or more may ride unsponsored under certain conditions and compete as a
senior.

In this particular case, unless Dylan White has accumulated 500 or more
miles and meets the conditions under AERC Rule 10.3 he will have to continue
the year as a Jr rider.

Dear Jr. rider,
You're stuck a bit..... if U start the season as a Jr. U may ride as a Jr.
all year if you like. Obviously, all points will count toward this one
division. If you change to a Sr. Division after your birthday... U will
still retain your miles & such, but the points and miles won't count for
your new weight division after you change to Sr. status. You will have to
decide if those points in Jr. Divi. are important enough to stay in that
Div. (and ride sponsored) the rest of the year, or if it means enough to you
to ride as an adult and give them up. Ye ole "catch 22".
good luck.... however U do it though... HAVE FUN!!!

I have read the rule book on age of Junior but I am not clear on how it is
meant. My ride season starts February and I will do a couple rides as a
junior but then my birthday is March 19th and I want to ride as an adult.
Do I have to stay classified as a junior if I start 2001 as a junior?
Please clarify for me. Thanks.
