Re: white hairs

Dear Lucy,
In regard to your message on ridecamp, I would like to offer some insight
that I have found in over 30 years of Endurance Riding. Many times white
hairs mean nothing more than excessive heat build up in that area, but not
enough to sore the back. Particularily if the area of the white hairs is 3
to 10 inches back of the shoulder blade. That area is subject to a lot of
movement under the saddle, so that heat is natural occurance. Some horses
will get a sprinkling of white hairs, some will get more, but it still will
not cause a soring problem for the horse.
