With Dance Line, good gut sounds have become paramount to me. I've been
experimenting with yogurt (live culture kind) and using that as the base to
mix my electrolytes with. I give this to him right before the start and at
all the vet checks. It really seems to work and is a heck of a lot cheaper
than paying for those probiotic products. I'm hoping it's a lot safer too.
Course eating is extremely important, but even when he crashed on me he was
eating well, except for the vet check before the last loop, so my fear is
when they stop eating it might already be too late. I pay more attention to
what the vet says about the gut sounds than I have ever done before. I don't
want to ever go thru something like that again.
I, also, believe Dance was a bit skinny last March and I've got some extra
weight on him now. We might attempt our second 50 at Hahira, not sure yet.
If you're going to that famous Georgia ride stop by my place for some yogurt
and beer. Got plenty of both.
