Regarding Mr. Kanavy's remarks in the Gulf News, please take into account the fact that creative journalism is the norm for papers here (I'm a resident of the UAE).  If you read strange/unbelievable comments in a paper (for example, a certain sheikh who will go unnamed is the best endurance rider in the world (?!!!) ) it is quite likely they were simply invented.  It's a whole different world here if you stick to reading the local papers--reality is what they say it is!  Thank God for the Internet.
