I very recently read that some equine eye problems have been
genetically linked to a rare coat color called silver dapple,
(It's pretty silvery chocolate color with a white mane & tail)
I think it was probably in Equus.
The article said, that Silver Dapple is a prized color in Rocky
Mtn. horses, thee color being numerous in this breed
and also in minatures and Icelandics.

So, maybe this article is where the original info came from.
