Swanton does Rocky

I apologize in advance to Barbara, who will probably faint dead away when
she sees these photos.  :+}

Several people have already emailed me about our 'accident', and want to
let everybody know that Rocky is home and looks great.

We'll definitely be back to finish this ride, it's a wonderful trail and
the McCrary's do a super job in every regard. I love trails like this, and
this one only has 1500' less of elevation gain than the Tevis does. I'd
like to thank Barbara most importantly for having enough vets available
that they were able to treat Rocky right away. I also really appreciate
the help from Judith Ogus and of course the vet himself to took care of
Rocky -- Dr. Chuck Kessinger. He took Rocky over immediately and cleaned
up the wounds and wrapped his leg and gave me a weeks worth of antibiotics
(because of the puncture wound).

I'll get some photos up of the trail shortly. It's beautiful!!!!

Congratulations to Lori Oleson for getting BC!! Way to go, you worry wart
you!! <vbg>

Oh....and just so nobody gets all flipped out -- what happened was simply
an *accident*. Rocky has done a lot of technical rides including Outlaw
Trail, Tevis, etc., and he has never *ever* fallen before. What happened
wasn't anybody's fault -- it wasn't Barbara's fault, or even the trail's
fault. It wasn't Rocky's fault. His hind feet simply slipped and he
fell. We just happened to be on a single track trail and he slid off on a
large boulder (that was part of the trail) -- if it weren't for his
sensibility I probably wouldn't be here to tell about it.

btw, the photos do look worse than it really is. Today he is cleaned up
and other than his forehead (and the wrap on his leg) you can't even tell
that anything happened to him. I feel very bad that he was injured but
also very grateful that it wasn't worse. He's a very special horse, I owe
him a lot.

Happy Trails,
