I had a gelding that exploded every time he started up a hill. He either 
bucked violently or just ran away until you could get him stopped somewhere 
after the top of the climb. Chiropractor found he had a pinched sciatic (sp?) 
nerve and with some adjustments and massage, he was finally cured of his 
explosions.
