Re: RC: Horses in California

My heart goes out to you, moving to the OC beach area of CA. It is NOT a
horse-friendly place these days. I lived there for 17 years and we still
have a house on Balboa Island. We used to ride on the shores between Corona
Del Mar and Laguna. It is VERY developed in that county , especially by the
beach. I believe there is still pretty good trail riding inland and to the
south. (The poster from Norco could fill you in more.) There used to be
horse activity around O'Neal Park, but I couldn't tell you now. The good
news is, as of a year ago there was a fairly good boarding stable in
Huntington Beach, on Golden State Blvd., (Huntington Beach Riding Club, I
believe. No trail riding to speak of, so expect to trailer somewhere for
that. I don't know the board, but the place is pretty upscale, so expect to
pay a lot. I think they do turnouts and have beaucoup trainers who can work
with your horse while you're slaving away at that hopefully well-paying job.
When you get tired of the rat race in CA, you can always come visit us CA
refugees in AZ.
