Have you ever visited his web page? Nothing is given away! Emails with 
silly (but to you important) training questions never answered! Dollars 
signs after everything! Some trainers like Richard Shrake for eg. have 
endless free training articles and answer all questions via email no matter 
how silly!

[Karen Sullivan]  I guess I have to jump in here right now, becuase this simply is not true.  For several YEARS there have been a very detailed series of John Lyons articles in RIDE magazine (A free California horse magazine); on starting colts, including some very detailed info on giving to the bit and reining.  For the last year; there have been a series of articles in HORSE AND RIDER, called Bringing up Baby, which deal with handling weanlings.

Last year he appeared at the Northern California Horse Expo in Sacramento and gave two demonstrations on unhandled horses. No extra cost, just the $11 to get in the expo with more lectures than you had time to attend and free trade show.  I  have to admit, I watched the JL clinics and was VERY impressed, both with how he handled the horses, and also with how he EXPLAINED what he was doing.

I am NOT  die-hard John Lyons fan, in fact I personally have a dislike for these big-buck clinics and trainers (based on another popular method), but I REALLY urge anyone to not pass judgement until you have seen them work in person.
