can a horse have a pschyological limp??>>

Hmm, this sounds familiar! My mare loves to go out on trails, she pulls,
ears forward, truly enjoying herself. When I am too lazy to trailer
somewhere, I'll ride out around the unpaved road around my subdivision. She
hates that. She acts like she is dying and dead lame - sometimes just drags
her hind quarters and stumbles a lot and then head bobs on a trot (but if I
let her gallop, she's fine). It's the most miserable thing to watch. She
did this the day before I went to my first ride (just a 15 mile fun ride).
I was sure I would end up not riding, but I wanted to get the camping
experience and just see what a ride was like, so we went anyhow. She was
fine. All A's and pulled the entire ride.

I still occasionally go out in the subdivision if I'm riding with my mom and
no time to trailer anywhere and she does the same thing. Next day we'll go
into the hill and she's fine. The winter a year and a half ago, she did
the same thing when she got tired of the round pen (before I started trail
riding I was too scared to do much else).

I just hope we don't end up with a "little boy crying wolf" problem!

Good Luck
Marlene
