ok, next question - jake brakes

We have a Dodge Ram 3/4 ton diesel with a 5 speed tranny.  We haven't had
any complaints about the brakes, but the range of the gears don't really
allow for much compression braking.  And since we're in Colorado doing lots
of mountain driving, I would like a little "more".  I haven't really liked
using the trailer brakes in our last truck so I'm looking for alternatives.
Does anyone have a Jake brake on this truck?  Any issues?  Did you install
it yourself?  My husband is quite capable of installing it himself - but for
something as important as brakes, I was wondering if there was anything
tricky or sensitive to the installation that I should just have it
professionally done.  Also, do you have an idea of cost and if it has an
impact on the Dodge warranty?
