How true, how true!!!
I am impressed at the competence of many of the ride vets we have here in
the Pacific Northwest. I often hear complaints that a particular vet is "too
thorough", costing precious minutes for those who are truly "racing" and
putting them at a disadvantage to another rider who may have had the luck
(?) to be vetted by one not quite so thorough. Better insight diagnostics
might help to even out this discrepancy.
As a side note, at a ride a few weeks ago, I heard some riders discussing
one of the vets who at a ride a few years previous merely "eyeballed" many
riders who came through his vetting area, and worse, doing this from a lawn
chair. I find this hard to believe, but maybe true and maybe grist for the
rumor mill. Funny to try to imagine, though.
