You got some bad info there - Shoes are NOT required
by AERC. Check the rule book - no mention of it.
Some ride managers require it because of the their
trails. I know it is a common requirement in some
parts of the country.
We also wear our shoes thin here on the rocks in WV
and VA. We only shoe when our rate of wear exceeds
hoof growth, but that doesn't take much riding around
here to do that. I'm always tickled by the look on a
horse's face the first time we ever shoe them...
