Electrolytes/Dosing in non-comp. situations

I admit it. I try to follow all the electrolyte discussions, but often get
lost in all of the alternatives folks have tried.

This is my situation.

We will be doing some long slow distance rides on the OD trails during July.
We have to escape the humidity of central Va by going to the mountains to
ride, where it's still humid, but less buggy.
Definitely a lot of walking with my arab mare who is not as fit as usual
this year - we will not be in a hurry (I'm still coming back from an
injury).
Lella drinks everywhere and eats everything in sight.
She has a very relaxed, unstressed personality, likes to go, but turns off
and on very easily. (unless she's trying to out trot Teddy's stallion <grin>
with a flirtacious look in her eye that say's "catch me if you can")

Would you give her electrolytes under this situation?
If so, what would you give? (keeping it simple)
In the past I have not given her anything and have not had any problems ( I
just provide loose salts & minerals in camp). However, I don't know these
trails and she is less fit than usual. I could unintentionally overdo the
workouts. I'm just thinking that I should be prepared - forever the
pessimist.
