Actually it is quite common - or was quite common - for Morgan's to be gaiter.
A horse know as Black Allan, later denoted as Allan F-1 as the foundation sire
of the TWH breed was by a Standardbred (which in those days a horse that met a
standard pulling a sulky ) out of a Morgan mare.

I've seen Morgans that will actually  up a storm.
