Eye injury

We are looking at an Arab gelding, 7 yr. old, to buy. But the week he
was to be delivered to us, he poked his eye badly on a tree branch or
something. Owners vetted the horse and put medicine in eye for a week.
Delivered horse to us last Sunday. Eye is cloudy and tearing and eye
lids are very swollen. He kept it closed most of yesterday. So we
delivered the horse back to his owners so that he can be taken back to
their vet for further treatment. If the eye heals up, they will deliver
it back to us to start our trail period over again. My questions are,
how long does it usually take a cloudy eye to clear up? Does that mean
the horse is blind?

Of course, if we do get this horse back, he will then go to our equine
specialist vet before we actually buy him.
