Re: RC: A picture is worth a thousand words (was: Up Hill or Down)

Hi Barbara
Now you've gotten my attention. Donna Snyder-Smith has made my stallion well
known in endurance circles because of her praise of his and his get's movement,
and in particular, their extended trot. Now I'm confused. I'm not an endurance
rider (although I'm getting encouraged in that direction and you'll probably see
me on the trail before too long--SHORT rides) and I'm not up on what is the best
gait, etc. Are you saying that the extended trot is not an advantage in a race?
I'm in the wrong corral if that's the case because all my offspring trot like
dressage horses (Donna said she suspected a warmblood in the Russian woodpile--
we stay away from the "T" word these days-- the French horses at the racetrack
and all-- no offense, Heather). Anywho, I'd really like feedback on this. I had
thought that most riders used the extended trot.
