Ohio Valley Equestrian Trails Symposium
February 12-13, 2000

The Kentucky Horse Council is proud to announce the second annual Ohio
Valley Equine Trails Symposium, which is scheduled for February 12 & 13,
2000 at the Executive Inn West in Louisville, Kentucky. The site is located
near the Louisville Airport and should make for a good central location for
trails loving horse people from throughout the Ohio Valley. The Target
audience is representatives from various horse clubs from Ohio, Indiana,
Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia, who can take information
back to their organizations in their state. We encourage representatives
from surrounding states such as Missouri, Michigan, Georgia and
Pennsylvania to attend as well.

The fee for attending is $40 ( payable to the Kentucky Horse Council, which
is providing financial oversight) and includes lunch on Saturday. A $15
late fee will be charged after February 6th. Pre-registration is strongly
encouraged. The program begins at 9:00 AM Saturday and conclude by 1:00
p.m. on Sunday. Churchill Downs invites participants for a tour of the
famed racecourse following the sessions on Sunday afternoon.

This symposium was inspired by the excellent National Symposium on Horse
Trails in Forest Ecosystems held at Clemson in October 1998. We will cover
some of the same information while scaling it down and addressing more
specific concerns in the Ohio Valley area. This is not a policy or planning
meeting, but an educational symposium directed at equestrian trail users.
Those attending will learn about subjects ranging from trail design and
funding to developing good working relations with government land managers.
The growing pressure on public lands and the wealth of misinformation
about horse riding make it essential that the equestrian community become
organized and pro-active in defending and promoting our tradition of riding
in America's open spaces.

If you choose to stay at the Executive West Hotel ( 1-800-626-2708, in KY
502-367-2251) be sure to mention that you are with the Ohio Valley
Equestrian Trails Symposium to receive our group rate of $58 00. For more
