RE: GRUELS ---Vinegar

My mare loves oat bran. So at rides I add it to her gruel. It costs a whole
lot more than wheat bran but can be found in bulk bins at some grocery
stores. Try adding some to the beet pulp. Just enough for flavor. Or by some
cheap rolled oats (people type) and run them thru the food processor to
pulverize them. At home I've started feeding a mix of alfalfa cubes and beet
pulp soaked together. I just use a few cubes for the added calcium, just
enough to cover the bottom of the soaking bucket. Both mares like it.

By the way, I've started feeding apple cider vinegar to both girls, poured
over their sweet feed. Haven't used it in years. Like every horse I've tried
it on, they are addicted. Absolute drool/slobber city. You might try that on
your beet pulp, just start with a small amount then increase later. It seems
especially appealing when poured onto something sweet. Swee and Sour?

Nancy Loving recommends feeding wetted down foods
at the Vet Checks.

My Arab gets beet pulp all winter but is not crazy about
it. How can I make it more palatable or what might I use
in its place?
