Re: RC: RE: Ex-racehorses in endurance

Hi Lif

Hmm.  Not so sure about this.  We have imported several horses from Poland who have raced and have had a hell of a job settling them for endurance.

Our Polish stallion, Samarang, was top racehorse of his age in 1991, the year we bought him.  He won 11 times.  He did five seasons endurance but NEVER got to understand why he couldn't go flat out from start to finish, and why other horses were allowed to pass him!

His oldest progeny are due to start in endurance this season so hopefully the qualities that we were unable to exploit to the full because of his early upbringing will be passed on to them.

The biggest problem with ex-racehorses is mass starts.  Complete nightmare.
