E is a vitamin that oxidizes, so it is no surprise that hay that has been 
stored for awhile is deficient, and the way it is baled could make a 
difference.  When the fresh hay comes off, it is likely to be much better.  
Sounds like you may well need to supplement in the winter and spring, though, 
as a routine thing.  Might be interesting to compare a sample of your first 
new hay with your old hay.
